Recently, I had the opportunity to stage a $7.2 million newly built modern farmhouse in the sought-after ‘north of Montana’ Santa Monica neighborhood.
No staging job comes without its issues and for this staging project the one and almost only issue was the 6,200 sq. ft. of newly painted interior walls. Pink. All pink. Your mind may jar you with images of My Pretty Pony Pink or Little Girls Dressed in Pink, but to be fair, the pinks were soft and muted, evoking energy of tranquility and peace. Mainly greys, whites and black shades, were used to stage, creating a sophisticated Los Angeles staged family home.
Spreading out silk rugs on the natural wood floors helped to warm this contemporary home. In the master bedroom, it was staged with a custom luxury king bed with a headboard covered in white tufted velvet which popped against the soft pink wall color. We staged with our original paintings in black and white and gold with gold leaf, creating lots of polish and interest.
MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THIS STAGING PROJECT:
The pink was actually used to my advantage by going a little glam, which is so in. Suspended one of our custom paintings from the ceiling over the granite fireplace mantle in the living room. Created glam with staging with lots of velvets in the living room, family and master bedroom and leather in the family room and office. The silk rug, velvet and leather in the family room complimented the VIC (very important chandelier) in the family room.
WHAT DID THIS PARTICULAR PROECT TEACH ME:
When you can’t hide it, kiss it.
