I just returned from Expo Mueble International Invierno (Guadalajara, Mexico International Furniture and Textile Trade Show) where I had a very enjoyable stay and saw first hand how Mexico is becoming a major player in the furniture and textile industry.

This was my first time to Guadalajara – the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Jalisco.  10th largest city in all of Mexico and the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila.  Guadalajara is also one of the country’s industrial and business centers, sometimes referred to as Mexico’s Silicon Valley.

If you want vibrant colors, where do you go?  Mexico!  Besides thriving on custom design and a willingness to work with U.S. clients, several local textile companies make their own textiles with gorgeous, stunning colors and are ready to print your own personal print-design.

Besides the show itself, I personally visited several factories and saw a great deal of custom furniture with superb craftsmanship.  There were stacks and stacks of reclaimed/vintage wood waiting to be put into production – ultimately to be turned into a beautiful dining room tables or stunning sideboards.

All in all this trip was very exciting and I look forward to going back – just call me a world traveler dedicated to finding great furniture and design for you!
